Hi community,
this is a thread to gather some feedback regarding the Tech Summit.
My personal takeaways:
- The TechSummit lasted 2 hours, but it didn´t feel like two hours (more like 1h). The pace was well-balanced and the speakers were engaging. Thank you for the valuable insights!
- I should definitely do more with DTC and Variant Management.
- I have some self programmed Jira connectors and I now wonder if should replace them with CWS one day. Well, never touch a running system I guess... :)
- I liked the open discussion. This segment has a lot of potential for similar events in the future! If I would have known there would be an open discussion, I would have prepared much more questions
@Community: What are your thoughts?
In the open discussion segment I made the suggestion to add some test cases for upgrade to community projects. But I’ve revised my idea! I think the community projects are NOT the best projects for these kind of test case examples. There is only a small number of community projects that is typically used "as-is" in production. Most of them demonstrate certain building techniques and are meant to be customized and integrated in larger projects. So adding test cases to them wouldn´t be of much help.
But there is one category of products that would definitely benefit from OOTB test cases for upgrades: Partner applications for Innovator! Especially when we consider that the roll out of the new marketplace is just around the corner.
I assume Aras will specify some basic requirements that the applications for the marketplace most fulfil. Might it be code quality, design rules or whatever. Why not include test cases templates? As partner applications are often used by a large amount of customers, it would be a big help if not everybody would have to start from the scratch.
I already provide these kind of data for a few of my own Innovator solutions (Batch Loader and Conflicts Minerals Management). In my case I also describe important dependencies regarding code tree or how to deal with application specific language packs. So far nobody was unhappy about this service.

As I have seen you at Tech Summit and in the forum community. What do you think about the idea from a partner perspective? Would be glad to hear your feedback!
Best regards!
