Aras, which provides the most powerful low-code platform with applications to design, build, and operate complex products, today announced presentations at the upcoming PLM Road Map conference on September 27 and the Global Product Data Interoperability Summit (GPDIS) on September 28-30 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The GPDIS and PLM Road Map conferences function as communications hubs for aerospace and defense industry leaders to foster knowledge in systems engineering, design collaboration, and product lifecycle management through the exchange of ideas, solutions, and methods. They also serve to build consensus for the core data representations in tool and process standards, and to share real-world experiences about implementations. This year’s event focus is “Data Resilience for Sustainability.”

Enabling the Tool-agnostic Digital Thread for a Digital Twin Configuration

As aircraft and weapons systems include more connectivity, sensors, and intelligence, each product asset needs an accurate digital representation, a digital twin, for context to interpret the data streams. Without configuration context, the time series data generated in production and during ongoing operation lack integrity and can lead to misdirected actions which could result in safety issues and liability. In addition, the ability to interpret and act upon these data often require traceability to prior information from related revisions, the digital thread, to make decisions. As artificial intelligence and machine learning get introduced to enable the smart factory, as well as aircraft and other assets in the field, the necessity becomes even greater.

This presentation will explore why next generation aircraft – including unmanned aircraft systems, remotely piloted aircraft systems, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAS/RPAS/UAV) – defense technologies, manufacturing equipment, vehicles, and other systems require the configuration context of the digital twin with a tool-agnostic digital thread. Attendees will also learn new approaches to realize these initiatives.
