Aras Reporting, Dashboards, & Widgets

Aras Innovator applications accumulate massive amounts of critical data throughout the lifecycle of a product. Engineers and managers need comprehensive capabilities to track and monitor various aspects of such data for reporting, ad hoc reporting, analysis, and decision-making. Aras Reporting and Dashboards enable users to easily access Aras Innovator data directly, as well as quickly transform and display data in useful and readily available formats.

In this hands-on session, you will create a report definition to extract data and display it as a report table. Users will be introduced to building and sharing a report with their colleagues and teams. Participants will manage a Dashboard to enable quick access to the data. You will be introduced to recent key enhancements, such as the recent widget chart types, data snapshots for improved data loading time on report views of dashboards, and how to allow a widget’s content to be updated from other widgets in the same Dashboard.

Scheduled for:  Monday Thursday

Audience: Application User, System Administrator
Duration: 90 min

Introduction to Aras 3D Visualization

Aras 3D Visualization (3DV) is a business-ready solution for converting and visualizing native 3D computer-aided design (CAD) files in Aras Innovator. Users upload 3D models from a CAD authoring tool into Aras Innovator as native 3D CAD files. The system automatically converts the uploaded native files into Stream Cache Single (SCS), 3D PDF viewable files, and other optional output formats. The users can view, manipulate, manage, and visually collaborate on the 3D models from the viewable files.

In this hands-on session, you will learn how to view CAD data by using Monolithic and Dynamic Viewers to navigate and select various components of a model. You will engage with zooming in, creating an exploded view, adding centerlines, etc. to add markup and collaborate with other team members. Participants will also learn how to isolate features or add measurements to add more details when adding markup.

Scheduled for:  Tuesday

Audience: Application User
Duration: 45 min

Configurable Behaviors for Responsive Forms

Aras introduced responsive forms to adapt the user interface’s layout and dimensions to various devices or screen sizes on item properties forms. Those responsive forms dynamically adjust their structure and content to deliver a seamless user experience. An enhanced admin user interface was introduced, allowing a centralized location of properties and construction of the form layout by dragging and dropping those properties into desired locations.

In this hands-on session, you will practice the creation of a responsive form. You will be exposed to the rule-based styling of form fields, rule-based hiding or disabling of form fields, extended support of view types, and fields descriptions.

Scheduled for:  Tuesday Wednesday Thursday

Audience: System Administrator
Duration: 45 minutes

Overview of Variant Management

In this session, users will gain experience with the Variant Management application firsthand through instructor-led exercises. You will gain an understanding of how Features, Options, Rules, and Breakdown structures implement variability in Aras Innovator. Users will resolve discreet variants from the 150% BOM structure. You will become familiar with using the Aras Variant Management application and understand its benefits.

Scheduled for:  Monday Wednesday

Audience: Application Users and System Administrators
Duration: 90 min

Extending Variability with Variant Management

Upon completion of the “Overview of Variant Management” session, participants will now add additional Options, Rules, and Breakdown Items to the existing configuration to allow users to resolve new variants. Specifically, we add all necessary definitions to support EBike variants to the Bicycle variable configuration. Once completed, we can resolve electric bike variants using the same Option Selection screen used for manual models. All aspects of extending an existing variable configuration will be covered.

Scheduled for:  Monday

Audience: Application Users and System Administrators
Duration: 90 min

Aras Supplier Management and Aras Portal

The Aras Supplier Management application extends the capabilities of Aras Innovator by providing tools to facilitate the workflow coordination, assessment, and connectivity to your network of suppliers. It automatically manages system permissions to allow the right suppliers to have secure access to your versioned product data and information in real time.

In this hands-on session, end users will learn about the application integration with your Aras Innovator instance. End-users will better understand how the application improves workflows associated with interacting with all stakeholders involved on both OEM and Supplier sides. Some business-based user cases will support the demonstration of newly implemented interactions to highlight application efficiency and tightly integrated operations.

For System Administrators, a high-level discussion will be offered to go over some architectural details of this application implementation. Some interesting aspects of the installation of both Supplier Management Solutions application and Aras Portal component will be reviewed.

Scheduled for:  Monday Wednesday

Audience: End-Users and System Administrators
Duration: 90 min

Implementing RESTful Services

The Aras Innovator Server is fully capable of handshaking with external client systems using RESTful Services implementation. By using the appropriate resources configuration, the Aras Innovator Server allows Solutions Developers and Implementation personnel to architect multi-systems integrated solutions, facilitating integration and compliance of the overall solution behavior to pre-defined business requirements.

In this hands-on session, you will experience how the Aras Innovator Server processes and responds to RESTful Services requests from a simulated external system. You will also have the chance to see how HTTP methods are properly mapped to translate client system requests into the appropriate instructions to manipulate the dataset in the Aras Innovator environment.

Scheduled for:  Tuesday Thursday

Audience: System Integrators
Duration: 90 min

Configurable Web Services

The Innovator platform includes a default REST API; however, we have now implemented configurable web services that enable us to create and expose our own REST endpoints. Through the user-friendly graphical interface (GUI), we can easily configure custom endpoints for REST. This allows us to select the specific Item Types that can be accessed, define the actions that can be performed, and determine which properties will be returned.

Furthermore, we will generate API keys for the Postman API tester to test the newly created endpoint. This will allow us to verify the functionality and performance of the endpoint. Additionally, we will observe the behavior when a user attempts to access an Item Type for which they do not have permission in the Configurable Web Services (CWS) environment.

By utilizing these configurable web services, we can tailor our REST endpoints to meet our application’s specific needs, providing a more efficient and secure API integration.

Scheduled for:  TBD

Audience: Developers and System Administrators.
Duration: 90 min

Aras Office Productivity Connector
Configuring Office Connector: Mapping Properties To/From MS Office Applications (OC 365)

The Aras Office Connector provides a convenient way to manage office files created using Microsoft® Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook e-mail messages. The connector helps to standardize company documentation procedures by providing easy access to template documents, controlling numbering and naming of files, and automating creation of viewable files like PDF. Users will work directly in Microsoft Office authoring tools to create and edit office files that automatically create corresponding documents in Aras Innovator. The native file formats, as well as PDF versions (created on-the-fly), are stored in a secure vault.

Administration of the Aras Office Connector is straightforward and follows the same methodology as the Aras Innovator web client configurations permit. The Connector is designed to be simple to use, and one aspect of this is that all options are controlled by the administrator on a site-wide basis. These settings affect the user interface and control topics like template management and Office file property imbedding, which are both user and administrative related topics.

Scheduled for:  Tuesday

Audience: System Administrator, Application Users
