The need for speed
The products we design, make, and operate continue to grow in terms of complexity and connectivity with many operating in a platform-as-a-service model; but this only part of the equation.
Today, over half of a company’s revenue comes from products and related services launched in the past two to three years, and that timeframe will continue to compress. The long-term cash cow products that were manufactured, shipped, and forgotten are a thing of the past. At the same time, the product ecosystem is expanding in scope to handle more complex connected products. Many of these products need to work in an as-running model with software and other updates as they operate and conform to platform-as-a-service (PaaS) business models.
The product ecosystems that manage this data are expanding and becoming increasingly complex at a rate that makes them virtually incomprehensible. By 2025, it’s estimated that 463 exabytes of data will be created each day globally – that’s the equivalent of 212,765,957 DVDs per day!
As the product ecosystems expand, the need for the enterprise to become more collaborative, to share data across disciplines, across the lifecycle, and an extended dynamically changing supply chain has become paramount to a company’s ability to react and adapt to market disruptions.
Add to this the reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, geopolitical and other unanticipated existential threats to businesses around the world. The simple fact is that if you can’t adapt in weeks or months your business will struggle to remain relevant.
Is your PLM system holding you back?
PLM systems are an impediment to a company’s ability to transform—to keep pace with their company’s need to adapt—because they have traditional on-premise, out-of-the-box (OOTB) software they can’t configure, customize, or quickly build sustainable applications, and that their software vendor can’t upgrade with all of their customizations.
The key question to ask is can your PLM vendor take your customized, on-premise solution to the cloud, allow you to continue to customize to meet your business needs, and continue to upgrade you? If not, you can’t keep up with the pace of change.
The Aras platform
By contrast, Aras provides the most powerful platform in the PLM market—Aras Innovator® with a set of business-ready applications to design, build, and operate the most complex products. Can your PLM vendor take your on-premise solution to the cloud, allow you to continue to customize, and still upgrade you? Learn what companies must do to keep up with the pace of change. The Aras Platform, which you could argue is the only true platform in this industry, enables the rapid delivery of open, flexible, scalable, and upgradeable solutions that result in increased agility and business resilience. While these applications can be used OOTB, OOTB will never match all of your requirements, which are always changing and changing at a faster pace.
The strength of the Aras platform is the flexibility to customize without restricting the ability to upgrade customizations. By using a combination of Aras’ rich set of platform services and interactive modeling engine, the Aras platform allows users to establish behaviors for an application with their specific business rules in the modeling engine’s declarative model. These components work together to create a powerful development environment without the need to write code for most requirements. We believe that combining full featured applications with an unlimited ability to configure, customize, and build composable applications that are sustainably upgraded on your schedule, provides a powerful alternative to conventional hard-coded PLM/PDM systems.
To give you an idea of the flexibility of our platform, subscribers alone have developed more than 1,000 composable applications, which we upgrade for them at a regular cadence. And they all take advantage of the digital thread inherent in a true platform. This causes their PLM systems to expand allowing for greater collaboration across the enterprise.
Aras Enterprise SaaS
Aras Enterprise SaaS is built on a native cloud architecture with the same functionality as our standard offering—that’s 100% functional parity—the same configurable applications, the same unlimited customizations, the same ability to create composable applications, the same inherent digital thread—and all guaranteed to be upgraded on your schedule. Unlike, some vendors, there is no need to remove your customizations to fit our enterprise SaaS offering. There are no limits to how much you can configure, customize, or build.
Also included is a Dev Ops environment to test your flexibility before we stage and place your solutions into production.
Unlike some PLM software—often a portfolio of one-off solutions that end up restricting your ability to digitally transform—our platform adapts as your business requires. I believe the greatest advantage a business can possess is flexibility—the speed to continuously adapt, react, and disrupt. This is what the Aras Platform and Aras Innovator are designed to do. Aras Enterprise SaaS is a true digital transformation platform.
